Jupiter is about 4 AU from the Earth at opposition (that is when Earth and Jupiter are aligned on the same side of the Sun)
    5 AU - 1 AU = 4 AU

1 AU = 150,000,000 kilometers

So this (4 AU) is about 600,000,000 kilometers
Light travels at 300,000 kilometers/sec

Therefore, the time it takes light (or radio waves) to travel from the Earth to Jupiter (or vice-versa) when the two planets are closest is
    (600,000,000 kilometers) / (300,000 kilometers/second)
    = 2,000 seconds
    = about 33 minutes

How fast does light travel from the Sun to each of the planets?
Light travels at a speed of 299,792 kilometers per second; 186,287 miles per second. It takes 499.0 seconds for light to travel from the Sun to the Earth, a distance called 1 Astronomical Unit. below I list the light travel times from the Sun to each planet:

...using an average number of 40 minutes we determine on STELLARIUM, the actual location of JUPITER when we are only seeing the light of JUPITER !
In other words what we see as JUPITER in the sky at night is not where Jupiter is! Rather JUPITER is 33 to 43 minutes ahead in its location in the sky due to the time it takes for it's light to reach us!

So this bright star in the night that is a PLANET, is a surreal view, of reality!
DO NOT MENTION anything else that is further away or beyond the SOLAR SYSTEM, at LIGHT YEARS AWAY !

...40 minutes after you are seeing it, JUPITER is approximately ahead 6.66° azimuthal degrees in the sky, in it's rotation path !


WHAT IS UTTERLY AMAZING IS:

(1) As we get to distances of more than 24 hours of light away, beyond PLUTO at 5,5 hours of light away, we start getting into the VORTEX OF PHOTON OF LIGHT, that reaches us in a spiral curve around the rotation of our planet on it's own axis and then the VORTEX of light around the SUN...!
(2) So when we are looking strait out into space, we are not seeing really what is there...!
(3) As to Polar viewing,the light VORTEX would be a faster NARWHAL tusk of light, as a spiral as we go around the SUN...!!!
So do not ask me the why of the NARWHAL whales tusk in the ARCTIC...?!


YOU DO NOT REALLY LOOK OUT INTO THE EDGE OF THE VISIBLE UNIVERSE in reality, unless this be true! Stationary Space Telescopes Satellites have to be somewhere for this to be possible ! 

ARE WE STILL SEEING reality positions, or vortexes of light ??? Most ascertain that the positions are constant if the relative distances are the same !


YOU DO NOT SEE A COMPLETE VEIL OF LIGHT, AS the intensity of the Light of the Stars varies to our eyesight capacity, and the OPEN EXPOSURE, and how our eyes function! BUT IF YOU TAKE A TIME EXPOSURE, WITH A TELESCOPE, and depending on the ZOOM, you do get a more cluttered VEIL OF light...!!!
 

BUT REGARDLESS these star light have a fixed surreal position for NIGHT STAR NAVIGATION AND Astronomy studies !
